Lithuanian Film Summer Survivors by Marija Kavtaradzė to World Premiere at Toronto Film Festival

For the second year in a row Lithuania has been included in the Toronto International Film Festival – one of the key events of the industry across the globe. The 43rd edition of the film festival will run for eleven days and include the world premiere of Marija Kavtaradzė’s debut feature Summer Survivors (orig. “Išgyventi vasarą”), which is taking place today, September 7. The City of Vilnius has rented special premises at the site of the complex of the Great Synagogue on the Vokiečių Street to host creative tenants, who will, in their turn, organise various artistic workshops, exhibitions, educational, innovative and artistic projects, teach crafts, there will be educational theatre and visual arts activities. Lithuanian cinema and documentary thrive in first half of 2018

Over the first six months of this year, national cinema in Lithuania has seen a significant rise in attendance, as evidenced by box office returns: ticket sales of Lithuanian films have almost reached 60% of last year’s total (€2.6 million, compared to €4.5 million in 2017), attracting 500,000 viewers (compared to 860,000 for the whole 2017).
