The International Women’s Association of Vilnius and Roche Lietuva continue the battle against breast cancer.

For the third year in a row a charity dinner has been organized to raise awareness of breast cancer.

The ‘Blossom of Hope’ event will take place on the 7th May at the Radisson Blu Lietuva Hotel and patron for the event will be the world renowned Lithuanian ballerina, Egle Spokaite.

The main sponsor of the event is Swiss pharmaceutical company Roche Lietuva with assistance from International cosmetic company, Avon.

All money collected from sponsors and from the dinner will be used to purchase biopsy needles which will then be donated to the main oncology hospitals in Klaipeda, Kaunas and Vilnius.

Breast cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer to affect women. While early diagnosis allows to dramatically increase survival rate, the percentage of breast cancer cases diagnosed at the late three and four stages is still high in Lithuania.

Last year’s charity event ‘Dancing through the Ages’ raised more than 40,000 litas which was used to purchase the biopsy needles which are essential for early diagnosis.

A ticket for the event will cost 150 litas and this will include a welcome drink, a three course meal including wine and a performance by ballerinas from Egle Spokaite’s ballet school. The event will be hosted by the theatre, movie and television actor Gintaras Mikalausgas and live music for dancing will be provided by ‘Ramunas Difartas ir Gyvo garso klubas’.

There will also be an auction with artwork from designers in Lithuania and from around the world.
