4000 more citizens were born than died last year in Vilnius

10 026 babies were born last year in Vilnius . This is 500 less than in 2010, when 10 709 were born. 2 600 babies born abroad were registered in the capital. Last year 85 cases of twin births and two instances of triplet births were recorded. 5 203 couples got married in the capital in the past year, which is 34 times more than in 2010. Although more couples got divorced – 2086. In comparison there were 1971 divorces in 2010.
The number of deaths is stable since 2009. 6002 people died in 2009, 6037 in 2010, 6026 in 2011 – reports Vilnius municipality.
In 2011 marriage and divorce ratio was 37%, birth and death ratio was 60%.
