Lithuanians win bronze

The Lithuanian national basketball team has won the bronze medals in the world basketball championship. The Lithuanians has crashed the mighty Serbs 99:88 and won the bronze medals for the first time in the world championship.

The national team had very little expectation due to the fact that most of its leading players were absent from the team. When coach Kestutis Kemzura was asked, before departing to Turkey, what plans his team has got for this championship he answered; ‘Right now I am thinking how to win against New Zealand, and then against the Canadians’… And so they did, having managed to lose only once to the USA in semi finals.

The young team has shown that this basketball crazy nation has what it take to surprise the world. Here are some pictures from Vilnius streets after the Lithuanians have won bronze.
