Nida and Juodkrante beaches will boast a blue flag again
The beaches of Lithuanian resorts Nida and Juodkrante will be marked with the blue flag again, the municipality of Neringa has announced.
The blue flag is awarded for compliance with particular environmental and service quality requirements and is taken as an international mark of a high quality beach by travel agents.
Nida beach has received the flag every summer since 2002, while Juodkrante has had it since 2004.
If the beach fails to meet some of the criteria during the summer season, the flag cannot be raised. The status of the blue flag was taken away from Klaipeda’s Smiltyne beach on June 2009.
The blue flag basically means that the beach is clean, there are showers, toilets, baywatch and more.
