University education decreases Lithuanians‘ chances to enter business
Lithuania is the single country in EU where a university graduate has little chance to become a businessman, a recent survey by Eurobarometer revealed.
Incidentally, only 25 percent of businessmen in the country have university diplomas.
Lithuania is also among the countries where most of the entrepreneurs are younger than 30 years old – there are almost 35 percent of them under 30. Only Latvia boasts a higher number of young people running a business.
Lithuanian businessmen are also least likely to have parents running a business – there are only 10 percent of them, while an EU average is above 30 percent.
In most EU countries, when a person has one or both parents running a business, they are more likely to become an entrepreneur themselves. In Lithuania, the other trend can be seen.
