UK Prime Minister favours bilateral dialogue with Lithuania

The United Kingdom’s Prime Minister David Cameron values the cooperation between Lithuania and the United Kingdom in pursuing the European Union’s Eastern Neighbourhood Policy and engaging in NATO international mission in Afghanistan the Presidential press office said in a press release.

President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė has received a letter from the newly elected UK Prime Minister, in which he expresses the UK’s interest in continuing the dialogue with Lithuania, share their experience and coordinate their national positions within the framework of the EU and NATO.

Prime Minister David Cameron writes he hopes the World Lithuanian Economic Conference taking place in London on 22 June will strengthen the economic relations between the two countries.

The UK’s Prime Minister also notes that the potentia l of bilateral economic cooperation is still much undeveloped.

“The United Kingdom is an important partner for Lithuania within the European Union and NATO. We are tied together not only by our shared values and goals in Euro-Atlantic structures, but also by one of the largest Lithuanian communities abroad. The dialogue with the United Kingdom and the development of our political, economic and cultural relations are among the key goals of our foreign policy,” President Dalia Grybauskaitė said, commenting the Prime Minister’s letter.
