Interpellation for cheating MPs must begin
The Lithuanian parliament decided on Thursday to start an interpellation for the Christian faction’s Seimas members Linas Karalius and Aleksandr Sacharuk, who were caught cheating their responsibilities in January.
More than half of the Seimas voted for the conclusions of the special Seimas commission that said they should face impeachment votes.
Next week, parliament will have to take the decision to begin the interpellation and to address the Constitutional Court which will have to decide whether the constitution was breached violently. The decision will be taken, if three fifths of the Seimas (85 members) approve it.
Karalius is accused of travelling in Asia during the session of Seimas, using his diplomatic passport and lying about the purposes of his travels, while his colleague Sacharukas used his card to vote in Seimas sessions for 14 times while he was gone.
