Russia and Belarus may change their plans of building N-Plants – Kubilius

Russia and Belarus may revise their plans to build nuclear power plants on their territories if Lithuania will successfully start implementing its own project of building a nuclear plant in this Baltic country.  The Prime Minister of Lithuania Andrius Kubilius got this impression after meeting his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Moscow on 26 March.

“The conversation with Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin led me to conclude that if we go ahead and really go through with constructing the nuclear plant in Visaginas, both Russia and Belarus may still decide to change their nuclear plants construction plans,” Kubilius on 1 April told news radio Ziniu radijas.

During this meeting the Prime Minister Kubilius confirmed to his Vladimir Putin that Lithuania will not participate in Russia’s Kaliningrad nuclear power plant project.
