Lithuania is amongst world’s 25 best countries to live in
According to a new study called 2010 Quality of Life Index Lithuania ranked amongst world’s 25 best countries to live in.
The report conducted by the International Living magazine put Lithuania on the 22nd place, which outruns such countries like the UK and Sweden. In the context of the Central and Eastern European bloc only Hungary scored a better result by taking 20th place.
Lithuania scored well in the rating based on political rights and civil freedoms enjoyed by its population and a favourable environment for living. This category that took into account density of population, pollution and climate. On the other hand Lithuania scored low on economy and infrastructure.
The study ranked France as the best place to live in, followed by Australia, Switzerland and New Zealand.
The Quality of Life Index 2010 ranked Norway 12th, Denmark 16th, Finland 18th Czech Republic 28th, Greece 28th , Estonia 32nd, Poland 35th, Latvia 40th, Belarus 109th, with Russia in 111th place.
The study found the worst quality of life in 2010 was in Somali, Yemen, Sudan, Chad, Afghanistan and Sierra Leone.
The study rated 194 countries in the Quality of Life Index 2010 based on categories such as economy expenses, infrastructure, climate, health, culture, leisure, environment and security.
