First death from swine flu in Lithuania

Swine-flu Lithuania on 18 November has reported its first casualty form the swine flue. The Minister of Health Caplikas confirmed to the media that a 14 year old boy has passed away in Kaunas Kaunas Medical University Clinic today.

The Minister said to media “The patient has been pronounced death, doctors are currently investigating the complications and will prepare a special opinion, but the kid that died had the A (H1N1) flu, that is confirmed with lab tests”. According to Mr Caplikas the boy died because of complications.

The media reports that the number of ill with epidemic has doubled in one week alone. Epidemic has been declared in Vilnius along with the districts of Ukmerge, Utena, Ignalina, Marijampole and Kaisiadorys. This is mostly the Eastern and Southern regions of Lithuania.
