Lithuania will stop testing patients encountered with the swine flue

Swine-fluThe Deputy Health Minister Arturas Skikas stated on LNK TV channel on 12 November that Lithuania will stop testing patients infected by the swine flue.  Mr Skikas said in the interview that there’s no point in testing every single case anymore.  Only those infected who are in hospital care and experiencing complications – would be tested.

Upper airway inflammation and flu morbidity rates in Lithuania were below pandemic levels last week, with 53 registered infections per 10,000 inhabitants.

The Lithuanian government is going to allocate 1.7 million litas to encounter the epidemic for a programme to control.  Some 700,000 litas of the sum will go towards purchasing the necessary vaccine and the remaining 1 million litas to be used for supplementing the reserve of antiviral drugs, Alfa.lt quoted BNS.

Until 12 November there were 100 cases of the pandemic flu were reported in Lithuania.
