Flights to Brussels and Scandinavian countries may be subsidized by Lithuania
Lithuania might decide to add Brussels and Scandinavian countries to the list of direct flight routes that have been identified as the most important for Lithuania. The government plans to support those routs from the budget.
In September the Government also named London, Berlin, Paris, Rome or Milan, Amsterdam and Madrid as the routes of the biggest importance for Lithuania.
A special task force was set up to identify those destinations, which should be considered of the biggest importance for Lithuania.
On 28 October the Government authorized the Transport Ministry to endorse the list of major routes by 1 December in cooperation with the Economy Ministry.
Subsidies for the routes are expected to reach some 15 mln litas or some EURO 4.35 mln in 2010.
