A new Nuclear Plant in Lithuania is economically feasible

The construction of the new Nuclear Plant in Lithuania is economically feasible, Prime Minister declared after meeting with the President Grybauskaite.  Lithuanian Government has commissioned the UK’s N M Rothschild & Sons to produce a business plan for construction of the Nuclear Plant.

Alfa.lt quoting BNS Kubilius saying after meeting the president “An answer provided to us is positive, the advisers intensively continue their work and will shortly inform about it our partners – the governments of Latvia, Estonia and Poland together with the energy companies representing those governments. I am convinced that by the end of September we will have clear outlines of the plan’.

As alfa.lt writes that a consortium led by N M Rothschild & Sons was chosen to advice on the new Nuclear Plant in June. Other members of the consortium are the Nordic and Baltic investment bank Evli, the international economic and financial consultancy NERA Economic Consulting and Germany’s technical consultancy Fichtner.

The final plan should provide with guidance for the project implementation also with a business model and a schedule of funding of the project.  The consortium should also provide the Government by December with the negation positions and with a proposal for a tender for strategic partners and investors.

On July 30 President Grybauskaite has publicly expressed her concerns about a cost of the new Nuclear Plant.
