Parliamentary chairman Valinskas will announce about his intentions on Monday

Arunas ValinskasArunas Valinskas, the Lithuanian Parliament Speaker will announce his decision about his farther plans in politics on September 7.  Mr Valinskas has been accused in media of having acquaintances among a criminal group Daktarai, from Kaunas.

Asked if he will resign before Seimas Autumn Session, which will convene on September 10 he answered “Let’s wait until Monday, everything will proceed in a way it should be, this single personality is not a key issue in the state today, and I believe everybody understands this.”

The opposition Order and Justice party has declared that it gathered enough MP signatures to initiate a vote of no-confidence procedure.  As one of the Seimas Deputy Speaker MP Baltraitiene, from the Labour Party, noted “If the parliamentary speaker does not resign, I believe there will be a (no-confidence) vote in the first plenary on Thursday (September 10).”  

Mr Valinskas has dismissed accusation of his connections with the criminals as slander.  Unofficial information is that Mr Valinskas will go not resign and is keen to go through the Vote of no-confidence procedure.

Lithuanian media has reported that the head of the Kaunas Darktarai group Mr Henrikas Daktaras was detained in Bulgaria, near Varna resort City.  Mr. Daktaras was on the run and changed his appearance.
