One of the largest Lithuania’s business groups is to break up

The second largest Lithuania’s business group, so-called VP Group (Vilniaus Prekyba) is breaking up.  The group is the owner of the Baltic’s largest retail chain Maxima, and also a part of the controversial LEO LT.  In 2008 the VP 10 was a second largest Lithuania’s company, after oil refinery Mazeikiu Nafta.

In a press statement, Mr Numavicius the group’s main shareholder has informed that two members of the group has already left the VP 10.  “VP Grupe (VP Group) has been undergoing substantial changes recently. One of the group’s shareholders, Darius Nedzinskas, has expressed his wish to withdraw from its activities. Zilvinas Marcinkevicius effectively ceased to serve as the group’s vice-president on Aug. 4, 2008.”

Since the group never disclosed its shareholders structure it is impossible to figure out who is owning what in the group.  It is beloved that Mr Nerijus Numavicius is the main shareholder.   Mr Marcinkevius was the second largest shareholder and Mr Nedzinskas held was the smallest shareholder. Both of them took an active part in the creation of the electricity holding company Leo LT, which is now slated for liquidation.
