Conservatives expect a functioning coalition even if Valinskas will resign

The Seimas’ Speaker could resign but actual work of the coalition should not be affected.  This is the main message which came after the Conservatives Christian Democrats faction’s meeting an hour ago. The party is the largest parliamentarian party and the leader in the ruling coalition.

The Prime Minister and the Chairman of the Party Mr Kubilius stated after the meeting said; ‘Valinskas (Seimas’ speaker) should evaluate situation, how it is evolving, the publications in media, President’s position and the public opinion about it.  Secondly, it is obvious if the situation will stay intact and Valinskas’ position will not change, then this question will be discussed in Seimas in September.’

Mr Kubilius expressed his wish that even is a case of Valinskas’ resignation the coalition will remain the same.  ‘We are trying to achieve an efficient coalition on which would be transparent, so the public could have a full trust in its work.’  The coalition consists of four/five political factions amongst which Valinskas’ Insurrection party was the second largest before split.

As the LNK channel reported yesterday the Speaker Valinskas went to see Mr Landsbergis, the Honouree Conservative Party Chairman, Member of the European Parliament at his home.

Former Valinskas’ colleagues has accused Mr Speaker of links with the Kaunas’ Criminal gang Daktarai.  At the moment the Speaker is on an official visit to Norway.  It appears that this could be his last visit in capacity of the Chairman of Seimas.
