A new trend for employment – Scandinavia

Increasing number of the Lithuanians are choosing Scandinavian countries over Britain and Ireland when searching for employment.  As Delfi.lt reported the employment agencies in Lithuania are sharp increase of inquiries about possibilities of employment in Scandinavian countries, an official of Vilnius office of the International Organisation for Migration M Jersovas said.

The employment agents assume that those calling are mostly seeking seasonal work and are planning to work there from 2 to 3 months.  By referring to the questions asked, one could assume that those interested in employment are not too educated and possibly mainly from the rural areas.

Sweden is considered for mushroom picking work, and Norway is more popular amongst females.

The World Bank announced on June that Lithuania has 60 percent  more of medical doctors per capita than the EU average.  It is known that Sweden lacks medical doctors, therefore perhaps the Lithuanian medics instead of massively taking bribes (one of the most corrupt sectors in Lithuania) and complaining about their bad salaries should start learning Swedish and move there?  Additionally, Lithuanian media reported that the Language schools are experiencing increase of students of the Scandinavian languages.
