Lithuanian ForMin will attend a traditional Baltic/Nordic ForMins meeting

Lithuanian Foreign Minister Vygaudas Usackas will be attending a traditional meeting of Baltic and Nordic foreign ministers in Iceland’s capital city Reykjavik which will take place on 20 and 21 August.

The meeting in question should cover most topical international and regional cooperation issues, a press statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania informs.

According to the statement in Usackas will present Lithuania’s priorities for its upcoming presidency in the Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS) as well as goals for its presidency in the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in 2011 and discuss regional energy projects of importance to Lithuania.

Amid the global surge in pirate hijackings Usackas plans to propose that the Baltic and Nordic countries pool efforts to boost the battle against pirates and better coordinate actions on the regional, European Union (EU) and NATO level, the press statement says.
