Russia agreed to relax Customs controls for the Lithuanians

Negotiations between the Lithuanian and Russian Customs authorities have yelled some results. According to delfi.lt Russia will soften up the customs procedures for the Lithuanian carriers if restriction of operations on 29 Lithuanian companies to operate in Russia will be put. The Russian authorities has presented the Lithuanians with the list of the Lithuanian companies accusing them with continues violations of the Russian Customs rules.

Acting chief of Lithuania’s Customs Department, Jonas Miskinis said to delfi.lt: “Russia provided as with a list of companies that have repeatedly violated legal acts. The softening up of the checking is linked with their (the 29 companies) restricted participation in TIR system.”

According to the Lithuanian official restrictions to the 29 companies could be recalled after their covered their debt to the Russian Customs.

BNS informed that the Lithuanian Customs Department will have to approve a list of reliable companies, while operations of the carriers listed by Russia as unreliable will have to be restricted by the end of Thursday.

There are some 700 Lithuanian carriers companies are dealing with Russia. Currently some 1.000 Lithuanian trucks are stuck on the Terechovo-Burachki border cross, according to Linava, the Lithuanian carriers association.
