Lithuania asked the Russian ambassador to revise discriminatory procedures towards Lithuanian carriers
Lithuanian Foreign Minister Vygaudas Usackas has urged Russian Ambassador in Vilnius Vladimir Chkhikvadze to take immediate measures to facilitate free and non-discriminatory traffic of Lithuanian cargo transport into its territory.
Lithuanian Foreign Minister Vygaudas Usackas has met the Russian ambassador Vladimir Chkhikvadze who was summoned to the Foreign Ministry on 11 August. The ambassador was asked to explain the tightened customs control of Lithuanian trucks on the Latvia-Russia border.
The BNS quoted Mr Usackas saying after the meeting with the ambassador: “I officially expressed my discontent with the situation that has emerged on the Latvia-Russia border. We have received information about signs of discrimination of Lithuanian haulers. I told the Russian ambassador that this was not in line with the spirit of constructive, business-like and pragmatic relations between Lithuania and Russia. I urged Russia to take immediate measures to change the situation”.
