Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius says the results of referendum on the new nuclear power plant construction must be respected, however, the political parties, which support the project, cannot break the promises given to their voters, writes delfi.lt.
“Referendum results are known, and they must be respected in the same way the will of voters expressed in the parliamentary elections must be respected. Parties that were voicing the harshest objection to the nuclear power plant construction, i.e. the Christians and the Greens, essentially received no electoral support.
On the contrary – the highest voter support went to the parties that are in favour of the nuclear power plant. And these parties cannot break their promises,” Kubilius said after the Government meeting on Monday.
