Foreign Vice-Minister and U.S. Congressman with Lithuanian Background Discuss the Implementation of Lithuania’s Strategic Energy Projects

On 21 September, Lithuanian Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Egidijus Meilūnas and John Shimkus, Co-chairman of the Baltic Caucus in the U.S. Congress, discussed the development of economic relationship and the implementation of Lithuania’s strategic energy projects, urm.lt reports.

During the meeting that took place at the World Lithuanian Economic Forum (WLEF), Meilūnas thanked the Congressman for providing continuous support to Lithuania’s main energy projects.

According to Shimkus, at the moment it is most important for Lithuania to consolidate its energy independence and to actively promote economic and business relations with the United States.

The Congressman with Lithuanian background has significantly contributed to Lithuania`s efforts to join NATO.

Shimkus reminded the Vice-Minister about the first U.S certified Trade Mission to Lithuania in 2011 and noted that Lithuanian businessmen also held a presentation of at the state of Illinois.
