Baltic States had managed the financial crisis extremely well, the Nordic Ministers of Foreign Affairs agreed on 4 September in Vilnius.  “Around the Baltic Sea we have growth; we have some of the most competitive economies in the world. I think Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia have mastered the financial crisis extremely well,” Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sweden Carl Bildt said to reporters.

We should help the southern countries in the face of problems, Carl Bildt added.  ”Now you have countries in Southern Europe that are in difficulties. We need to help them in order to overcome these particular difficulties, and then preserve, further develop the single market of the European Union to make certain that we have a voice in the world and that we are competitive on the global market. So Europe should stay together. That’s critical to the future of all of us,” Bildt noted.
