Ažubalis: Lithuania and Poland should work together

On July 27 in Zuokniai airbase the Minister of Foreign Affairs Audronius Ažubalis met with the Polish Air Force troops, who currently are on NATO’s Baltic Air Policing mission and thanked them for their service, also stressed the importance of Lithuania’s and Poland’s cooperation in security area responding to common challenges, Delfi.lt portal reported on 27 July.

‘Lithuanian Vytis and Polish Eagle (coat of arms) were on the joint shield of our soldiers for ages, we have continue to hold it firmly together in order to resist the new twenty-first century threats’ – Foreign Ministry press release quoted the Minister.

According to him, the Polish military service in Lithuania, an intense and successful military cooperation in the region confirms that ‘the freedom of countries can only be achieved by Lithuania and Poland keeping together’.

Ažubalis presented the Polish soldiers with a set of post stamps released by the Lithuanian Post with the theme of ‘The Battle of Žalgiris’ from the painting of Jan Matejko.

The Polish air force, participating in NATO air policing mission for the fourth time, in Lithuania’s, Latvia’s and Estonia’s air space patrols with four Mig-29 model aircrafts. On 1st of September Czech representatives will take over the patrol.
